We’ve visited Alpine Bakery a few times already since moving to Whitehorse. My husband’s a bit of a bread nerd, so this is his kind of place. They have scheduled loaves by day, a proper oven, and while we were in there, a staffer was knocking on the bottom of loaves to ensure its doneness. I did not know that was a thing. My husband did.
We’ve tried a couple of their loaves as well as snacks. Everything has been really good.
The only “knock” on them is that they aren’t open Sunday and Monday – which has caught us a few times already! It’s not necessarily a bad thing, as it prompted me to try my hand at breadmaking. (My rosemary olive multigrain loaf was very good but not quite Alpine-level. That’s what you get when you use a breadmaker – but let me know if you want the recipe!)
We also have our eye on it as a vegetarian/vegan option for when friends/family visit.
Likelihood of return visit: As long as I need bread on a day that is not Sunday or Monday.
