This visit was my second attempt going to 506 All Day Grill. The first involved me walking in by myself only to find there wasn’t an open seat in the house. I’m not a big fan of waiting (until I know and expect it, and even then I’m not a particularly patient person) so I walked out.
That’s not a slight. It was busy. Good for them. I’m just a solo diner who doesn’t like to wait.
I returned with my husband a few weeks later and once again, it was busy, just not full to the brim.
We were seated quickly and provided with the large menu.
Despite the large menu, my husband and I both picked out the same meal – the PB Hot sub – mayo, cheddar cheese, onion, pepperoni, bacon, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese. (Served with your choice of side)
You will note the photo above is not of this dish. I have this weird thing where I can’t order the same thing as someone else. I mean, it would make for a boring blog if I didn’t have dishes to pit against each other. But mostly I am just afraid that something better is on the menu and I want the highest probability of getting it.
So I went with a breakfast hash with sausage.
This was definitely the all-day-grill version of what I had at Earls a few weeks back. And this was the far superior dish, even without the avocado, chorizo and poached egg. The star was the crispy potatoes that you can just see peeking out from the mount of food on top of them. Also when I was done the dish, there wasn’t a pool of grease. I have no idea what the special sauce contains, but it too was delicious.
As for the sub, it was good as well. Nothing fancy, but it was a substantial portion and definitely fit the bill for comfort food.
The service was exceptional with the server coming by at regular intervals but not too much.
I can see why it was so busy.
Likelihood of return visit: There were some Asian dishes on the dinner menu that I’d definitely like to give a try.
