Early morning visit: Shanthi’s at the Airport

I’ll admit this was definitely not a thorough visit. It was early in the morning as we were at the airport catching the 7:30 flight to Vancouver. We’d left the house by 6:00am, a little bit earlier than I’m used to with my contract-work-based schedule.

As much as I love food, the earlier I get up, the longer I need to wake up before I can eat.

By the time we got to the airport and dropped off our bags, I was a bit peckish. So we went up to Shanthi’s.

For the first few months of my husband working up here, he spent a lot of time at the airport flying to and from Whitehorse. So this wasn’t his first visit to Shanthi’s. However it was mine.

He ordered a coffee (smart guy, he had toast at home!). I got an orange juice, hashbrowns and an over-easy egg.

This was definitely a case of “what you see is what you get” – in that I was looking for fuel more than food in this instance.

It was quick and hot and would tide me over until I was presented with a scone on the flight. (Thanks Air North!)

And you know what? I’d do it again.

 

Side note: I also heard they make a good butter chicken. Can any of my readers confirm this?

 

Likelihood of return visit: We have no upcoming trips planned, but if there’s an early morning flight, this will be an option.
