I noticed Off the Hook Meat Works soon after arriving to Whitehorse. One day I even planned to go visit it.
But it was not to be. I won’t get into the details but there was an incident that derailed some of my early plans in Whitehorse. It left me scared and alone and it happened right near their shop.
Thankfully, I’m over it. But I’m disappointed that it took me so many months (and several comments on here) to actually make it to Off the Hook!
From the outside, it looks a bit like an autobody shop. At first, I couldn’t figure out why. Then I had my ‘aha’ moment. It’s because people could be bringing in large animals – animals too big for a normal door. Aha!
Inside, there is a small cooler lined entry to a display case. There are plenty of things in there, from smokies to fish to fresh cuts of meat.
At this point, I can only speak to their beef jerky. It’s not that shoe leather you get in the chips aisle at the grocery store. This is meaty stuff – and addictive!
While I was there, I also got some cheese smokies to be consumed a later date.
Anyways, I’m looking forward to bringing my husband by to check it out.
